Fans of a cult Aussie breakfast item are over the moon at its return to supermarket shelves.

Tip Top Golden Crumpet Toast was last available in Australia in 2020 but eagle-eyed food blogger @nectoriouspapi spotted it had returned to Coles and Woolworths this week.

“PSA Crumpet Toast is back at Woolworths, as well as Coles. Spongy soft and delicious,” he said.

The Crumpet Toast has the taste of a crumpet but the texture of a slice of toast.

“Each slice is crunchy on the outside, soft and spongy in the middle; it is scrumptious with butter and honey, or your choice of tasty toppings. Never a boring bite,” its product description states.

Social media users were over the moon at the news but demanded that other fan-favourite products also make a return to supermarket shelves.

“They need the scone toast back,” one social media user commented on the video.

Another said they believed the cinnamon version was much better than the Crumpet Toast and they wanted that to come back, while others were shocked at the price.

“OMG I’ve been waiting half my life for this to come back to New Zealand. We only have the cinnamon one,” another social media user commented.

“Not tasty enough to pay that price — even $5. I prefer normal crumpets,” one breakfast bread lover revealed.

“Don’t think it was $7 last (time),” one social media user commented.

Another social media user declared: “$7 is a joke.”

Currently, Tip Top Golden Crumpet Toast is $7 at Woolworths and discounted to $5 at Coles.
