November 3, 2014. Construction for the tower where the former Twin Towers stood began in 2006. Following the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a competition was held to find a lead architect for a new structure.Polish-American architect Daniel Libeskind won the competition. His vision of an asymmetrical tower wasn’t realized, however.
