Second man charged following death of Adelaide man Will Holdback

A second person has been charged with murder following the death of 21-year-old William Holdback in an Adelaide industrial area on April 10.

Police are yet to recover the weapon, believed to be a knife, and have released a map showing where the accused killers allegedly travelled after the incident.

Anyone with dashcam footage who travelled on Welland Ave, South Rd, Port River Expressway, John Rice Ave and Main North Rd to Elizabeth East between 1.15am and 1.49am is urged to contact police.

Last week, a 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder in relation to Mr Holdback’s death. On Friday, a 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with murder.

Both men have been refused bail.

About 1.30am on April 10, emergency services were called to Barrpowell St, Welland, after a man was found unresponsive on the roadway.

Witnesses tried to help Mr Holdback, but he died at the scene.

CCTV footage captured parts of the incident, and police have requested media not show video or play audio to avoid the possibility of prejudicing any future trial.

Police say shortly before his death Mr Holdback had met with two occupants of a BMW sedan in Musgrave St.

“A brief argument occurred and William fled into Barrpowell St where he was fatally stabbed by the passenger of the vehicle,” police allege in a statement on Friday.

“The driver of the vehicle drove the BMW into Barrpowell Street and collected the person who stabbed William and they left the scene.”

That BMW has now been seized.
