Malaysian ex-PM Najib’s jail time period halved to 6 years

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s pardons board stated on Friday it had halved the jail time period for former Prime Minister Najib Razak, at present in jail for corruption, to 6 years.
Najib was sentenced in 2022 to 12 years in jail for offenses linked to the misuse of public cash within the multibillion-dollar 1MDB monetary scandal.
“After contemplating opinions and recommendation … the pardon board has determined to grant a 50 % discount for the sentence and high quality imposed on Najib Razak,” it stated in a press release.
