A clip of Australian showbiz legend Denise Drysdale’s surprising announcement to her I’m A Celeb campmates has gone viral on social media.

The national treasure, 75, revealed the ‘luxury item’ she smuggled into camp for Channel 10’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! earlier this week, and it left her fellow celebs speechless.

While it initially appeared her contraband was salt and pepper shakers, Drysdale revealed the contents were actually her late parents’ ashes.

“You’re in camp, mum and dad!” Drysdale proudly said.

UK reality star Callum Hole couldn’t quite contain his bewilderment at Drysdale’s reveal.

“I don’t think that’s normal,” he later said to the cameras.

“It might be … I don’t know. I don’t think I’d want my mum and dad next to me in a tin.”

A video from the episode has since been uploaded to TikTok, where it’s prompted a wave of reaction.

“The way I gasped,” one user wrote.

“I physically laughed out loud at this scene,” another said.

“I’m screaming,” a third added, while another wrote, “Omg I wasn’t expecting that, my mouth just dropped.”

There were also a flurry of overseas users chiming into the comment section, with the brief on-air moment prompting them to want to watch the series.

“Doesn’t sound American but I’m hoping I’m wrong and you can tell me where I can watch [this],” one wrote.

“We need an Aussie channel in the UK!” another said.

“Where can I watch this?!” a third asked.

Drysdale has previously revealed she takes her parents’ ashes with her wherever she goes, including on holiday.

It seems the star is somewhat of a collector of ashes.

Speaking to news.com.au prior to going into the South African jungle on Monday night’s episode, The Ernie Sigley Show star told how she kept the ashes of her friend, David, at her home.

But things went awry during a dinner party she hosted one night, and it sounded like a scene straight from Meet The Parents.

“I said, ‘I’ve got David’s ashes, he’d want to be here. He can share the dinner party with us’,” Drysdale remembered.

“And as I’ve come out, I’ve sneezed and the ashes have gone everywhere.

“Everyone was mortified.”

I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! continues Sunday at 7.30pm on Channel 10
