The loved ones of a young woman who was allegedly murdered by her ex-boyfriend have paid tribute to her outside of her parents’ pub where she worked.

Hannah McGuire’s body was found inside a burnt out car in Scarsdale, southwest of Ballarat on April 5, a couple of days after the 23-year-old was reported missing.

Her ex-boyfriend Lachie Young, 21, has been charged with her murder.

A floral tribute has grown outside the National Hotel in Clunes, north of Ballarat – the pub owned by Ms McGuire’s parents and where she once worked.

Photographs from the scene reveal heartbreaking messages from friends offering their support to her family as they grieve her shocking death.

“Know that we are here for you to reach out during this difficult time on the devastating loss of Hannah,” one card left at the pub reads.

“Thinking of you in this sad time,” another said.

Police alleged in court on Tuesday Mr Young killed Ms McGuire before driving to State Forest Rd in Scarsdale, southwest of Ballarat, and setting the car on fire.

It will be further alleged that she died inside Mr Young’s home in Sebastopol, on Ballarat’s southern fringe.

In court on Tuesday, Mr Young’s lawyer told the court the 21-year-old was in a state of declining mental health.

He was remanded into custody and is expected to be back in court for committal on September 19.

Ms McGuire is the third woman allegedly murdered by a man in Ballarat in just two months.

Mother-of-five Rebecca Young was allegedly killed in a suspected murder-suicide on February 16.

On February 4, Samantha Murphy, 51, vanished on a morning jog. Her body has not been found but Patrick Orren Stephenson was charged with her murder on March 7.
