Charlotte Crosby joins newly-announced ‘Aussie Shore’ reality series

Charlotte Crosby has joined the Australian version of the smash hit UK series Geordie Shore.

The British reality star is perhaps the most popular personality to emerge from the smash hit show.

She’s currently in Cairns, far north Queensland, where filming has begun on Aussie Shore. It’s the first local iteration of the ‘Shore’ franchise, which will stream on Paramount+ at a later date.

Crosby, 33, first shot to fame as an original cast member on Geordie Shore – MTV UK’s most popular show ever – back in 2011, and in a “full circle moment”, will fill the role of ‘House Boss’ for Aussie Shore as 10 local cast members party it up in backpacker paradise.

“It’s been so nostalgic … When I walk in there and I see them all sat there, my heart could melt like a puddle onto the floor,” Crosby told news.com.au.

“I am a mother now, so I feel like I fit perfectly in the role because even though I’m still Charlotte from Geordie Shore – and don’t get us wrong, I still am – but now I am this mature woman who has a child and I’m ready to look after my 10 Aussie, non-biological children.”

Crosby, who will spend the next three weeks in Cairns where she’s travelled with her fiance Jake Ankers and their one-year-old daughter Alba, is a true champion of the Shore franchise.

Despite abruptly leaving the show in 2016 after officially calling it off with her on-again-off-again co-star Gary Beadle, Crosby returned for the Geordie Shore debut reunion series in 2022 and has hosted multiple anniversary specials.

“It is literally my heart and soul. I have got nothing bad to say about the show,” Crosby said.

“A lot of people believe I’ve grown up now, and I have, but I don’t frown upon it or regret a single thing.

“They were their best years and the best memories of my whole entire life. I will lie on my deathbed and Geordie Shore will flash before my eyes.”

While she remembers the whole experience fondly, Crosby concedes she struggled with self-confidence being a “normal girl” on TV.

“I think for us girls, we never felt good enough because we were just normal girls,” she said.

“We weren’t models they picked off the street. We had normal body shapes and normal dress sense, and all of these boys [in the house] didn’t want normal.

“We just felt very ugly, and always put ourselves down.

“But in a way, even though we struggled with that, the whole world loved the fact we were so normal. So it was a double-edged sword.”

Aussie Shore, produced by Paramount+ and MTV Entertainment Studios, is set to inject around $3 million to the Queensland economy, with an investment from Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy.

Luring tourists down under is an initiative Crosby can get behind, having starred on several local reality shows, including I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! and The Masked Singer.

“Australia … It’s like my favourite place on earth. I love being in Australia. I’ve been here for the last 15 years doing tours around everywhere,” Crosby said.

“So the fact that I was asked to be boss for the Australian version, it was just a dream. It was a dream come true.”

Crosby added, “I’ve been looking at real estate you know … On the Gold Coast.

“I’ve got loads of work in England, so I’m trying to become a multi-millionaire and then I’ll come and open a bar, where we do amazing brunches and it would be wild.”
