A man is fighting for life in hospital after a stabbing in southwestern Sydney.

The 46-year-old man was found at a Ninth Ave apartment in Campsie suffering from stab wounds to his face, arm and chest about 8.45pm on Wednesday.

The man was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.

Photographs show forensic investigators in blue suits scouring the scene for evidence on Thursday morning.

A 53-year-old woman was also found at the property with stab wounds to her thigh.

She was taken to St George Hospital.

A 25-year-old man was arrested a short time later.

His injuries are not known, but he was taken to Concord Hospital and remains under police guard.
